A Study on Labyrinths

In my work "Im Trug der Schwelle" (interactive video, translates to: "In the Lure of a Threshold), I deal with a philosophical theory according to which the source of human action is always a desire or longing and the striving for some kind of perfection.

By crossing a "threshold" we hope to arrive, but in reality we discover that pure perfection is unattainable. This means that the threshold we imagined never existed, but was merely an illusion created within us.

This narrative structure has considerable analogies with the formal principles of the Cretan labyrinth. The similarity lies in the phenomenon of striving for a centre, for the achievement of perfection, a divine principle, the Minotaur or whatever the centre may stand for.
I have recorded an interim result of my research on the Cretan labyrinth in a booklet.
I also created a virtual three dimensional labyrinth.
